HOW TO INCREASE REVELATIONS FROM GOD

We have seen that we can receive revelations from God, that is, we can hear from God, through different means. Then we must know how to increase these divine means of hearing God. Perhaps you have been hearing from God through one or two means, it is time to increase these means.

A man of God has devised a formula which will help us to increase in revelations. And the formula emphasizes all the factors that will help us to increase in revelations from God. He called the formula “HABITS” and each letter of the word HABITS talks about each factor we need to increase in revelations from God. Let us see them one by one.

H       -        Hunger

A       -        Association

B       -        Bible study

I         -        Intensity

T        -        Tarrying

S       -        Spirituality

That is it, HABITS. This teaches us to turn our revelation factors into revelation habits. Now let us expatiate on each of them.

HUNGER

Do you want to increase in revelations from God? If you answer yes, then hunger for it. Beloved, if you want to abound in revelations, you just have to hunger for more revelation. One man of God talked about another man of God who spent six months praying over Ephesians 1:17-21. And it changed his ministry because suddenly he began to abound in revelation. That man of God was filled. The Lord is faithful to all His promises. This is just because he hungered for revelation.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled”    

(Matthew 5:6).

Now, how do we hunger and thirst for God’s revelations?

“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land where no water is to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary”

  (Psalm 63:1,2).

That is how to hunger and thirst for God and for His revelation. If you hunger for Him, He will fill you.

ASSOCIATION

Another thing you need to increase in revelations is to associate yourself with God’s anointed people. Beloved, when you stay close to those who receive revelations, you too will soon be receiving as they do. This is what is called rubbing off. By coming in and going out with these people, the anointing gets rubbed off on you. In fact you become qualified for spiritual assignment.

“Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us”

   (Acts 1:21).

Associating yourself with those that are anointed is very important. It helped Peter and John and the rest of the disciples. And it can help you too. See Acts 4:13:

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus”.

Association is a key; try and associate yourself with God’s anointed people, and see wonders.

BIBLE STUDY   

We have said many things about the Bible, in the previous section, as the best and most reliable means of revelation. Yet, we can still say more. Bible study, whether personal Bible study or Church Bible Study, no doubt, has high potential of increasing one’s revelation.

When you see a passage of the Bible that talks about revelations, hold on to it, pray it into your life, then take another one which also talks about revelations, hold onto it, and pray it into your life, then take another one, and do the same thing. Just like that man of God we talked about under HUNGER who spent six months praying over Ephesians 1:17-21, you will soon find out that you will begin to experience an increase in revelations.

Jesus said,

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39).

“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye my grow thereby” (1 Peter 2;1,2).

That is how to grow spiritually and increase in revelations.

INTENSITY     

Beloved, do you really want to abound in revelations? You may have tos intensify your efforts. By intensifying your efforts we mean that you add fasting to your efforts. Fasting is good. It affects a lot of issues on revelations. Fasting subdues your flesh so that you will not be able to yield to it. Fasting makes you more sensitive to the things of the Spirit. If you ask Daniel he will tell you.

“And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes”

                        (Daniel 9:3).

What is the result of Daniel’s intensity? Look at verses twenty to twenty-three of the same chapter.

“Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel…touched me… and he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. At the beginning of thy supplications the commandments came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved; therefore understand the matter and consider the vision”.
